|60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Albuquerque (2nd edition)
57. Mesa Gallina
Also, beware of Carl:
Apr 06, 2013: L54, the road going south
from Old 66, is now signed: Alamo Road.
According to an Acoma conservation
officer, it is a county road and you do not
need a "trespass permit" to drive on it.
Sep 09, 2014:
The road south of Cerro Verde is closed, gated, locked, and
thoroughly posted with No Trespassing signs. Apparently some
Texans own section 18, and now they're serious about keeping
the public off of our public lands. Please see the map below for
a legal, albeit hazardous route to the hike at Mesa Gallina.
If you know a better way to get there, I'd love to hear about it.
